"Boston Market" Cornbread

I love cornbread. No, really; I LOVE cornbread!!!!

I've been on a mission to find a sweet, moist cornbread. And with a little (okay, a LOT) of trial and error, I've finally got it!

Ingredients
• 2 boxes Jiffy Mix Cornbread
• 1 box regular yellow cake mix (I use Betty Crocker or the store brand)

Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Grease a 13 x 9 baking dish and set aside.
Mix both boxes according to the directions.
Combine batters.
Bake for 30 minutes (a knife in the center should come out clean).

Enjoy!

Hair through history

I saw this picture and thought it interesting, especially with my cosmetology background.

Which era do you still live in? :)

Cow on the Roof

This post is brought to you by guest blogger, Steven South. Enjoy!

Cherise, the Mompreneur

Hi Folks,

That sound you just heard was me sucking in a deep breath! I will be holding it until my new Kickstarter campaign is complete, and hopefully fully funded.

As some of you may know, I have created a Kickstarter campaign to fund my second book called: "The Cow on the Roof."

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1436259151/what-would-you-do-with-a-cow-on-the-roof

Please pass this link on to all your friends and family. If you are able, a pledge on your part would be greatly appreciated and rewarded

For those of you who don't know what Kickstarter is, it's a place for creative people to go and drum up support and funding for projects that simply MUST be completed. I have been working on and off on this project for a few years. With your help, now is the time to complete it.

All my thanks for the help you have provided, and any any you can provide in the future

Dr. Who Anyone?

So I've been browsing the Internet and came across this blog entitled BlogHer. Really entertaining. Anyway, she compared moms to Dr. Who (yes, the time lord!!!). If you're a fan, you'll find it interesting. And if not, read it anyway! ;)

Animal Zoop

Update: for more on the new book, Cow on the Roof, read here

I am so excited for my hubby! He is in the process of writing his second book!!!! It's called Cow on the Roof. I'll talk about that later. But being excited about the second book implies there was a first. Yup! (WARNING: Shameless plug) It's an ABC book entitled Animal Zoop.

Letter A:

Letter Z:

Amazon's description: Animal Zoop is a fun-filled alphabet safari, full of wonder and whimsy! From Alfred the Alligator to Zak the Zebra, you and your child will love the illustrations and rhymes. Written and drawn by Steven South.

And here is some quick background info:

This book is about 20 years in the making, I started writing it in the late '80s. I started with the Alfred rhyme and added a few others. The illustrations came soon after. But in early '91 I put it on the shelf as other more pressing needs took center stage, you know, eating, gas in the car... a car!.... It wasn't until my wife began encouraging me to pick it back up, that I finally set aside time to finish it and make it available to everyone.

Steve

Maybe you could get excited too....

Until next time!

Paint programs for Mac

Today's post is from guest blogger Steve South. (To read this on his blog, click here: http://www.cgiworlds.com/kunena/wip/11-2d-sketches-paintings-prep-work) Enjoy!
Cherise, the Mompreneur

A friend of mine over on Propsummit.com  ( http://propsummit.com/viewtopic.php?p=59756#59756 )  is looking for a good alternative to MS Paint but for the Mac. So I thought I would look around for him. Please note that I'm not a Mac user, so anything you see listed here is purely an exercise of my Google skills not a rousing endorsement of the listed applications. Let the downloader beware!

The only variable I added to his request was that it needed to be at least free to download and use, so without any further ado my extremely short list:

Paintbrush ( http://paintbrush.sourceforge.net/ )

Seashore ( http://seashore.sourceforge.net/The_Seashore_Project/About.html )

Rita ( http://www.frykholm.se/rita.html ) - Shareware but free to download and use - Please pay for it if you use it.

And of course the over the top with an extremely steep learning curve GIMP ( http://www.gimp.org/ )

I hope this helps! ~ Steve

International Convention Series

I thought this was interesting and thought I would share!
Cherise, the Mompreneur

NEW YORK—Jehovah’s Witnesses have announced that they will hold three-day international conventions in cities around the world beginning in June 2014 and continuing through January 2015. The convention series will commence in the United States and then continue in Australia, Ecuador, England, Germany, Greece, Mexico, South Korea, and Zimbabwe. These international events will coincide with the regional conventions held in smaller venues the Witnesses organize every year.

The international convention series will begin on June 6, 2014, at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, USA. Some 45,500 people are expected to attend the event, including 2,500 foreign delegates.
The international conventions will host delegates from....

Let's get healthy... Together!

So I found this app called My Fitness
Pal. First, let me say "LOVE!!!" I love
this app! You can program your weight,
including if you want to gain or lose
weight, your activity level and other
information. Then it gives you the
amount of calories you should eat. With
that, you put in how much you exercise
(which will add to your calorie brake for
the day). You can keep account of the
water you drink, your food intake, your
exercise and the like. And did I mention
it's customizable? And for those
without smart phones, visit their website
at www.myfitnesspal.com. Friend me at
'clfulsouth' so we can keep each other
motivated!!!

A promise to who?

Soooooooo, go ahead. You can say it. I've been MIA for a few months. I apologize for that. There has been so much life going on. But doesn't everybody? 😳

That being said, I've been down on myself about the could've, would've and should'ves. But one blessing in my life is a mommy Facebook group I'm a part of. Those wonderful ladies reminded to start today in changing whatever it is I feel needs changing. One of those things is a commitment to my passions- one of them being sharing me on this blog. So I'm committing to you that I will commit to myself to regularly keep this blog going. Make sense? 😅

I have some wonderful things planned. I can't wait to share!

Until next time!
